RES development in Kazakhstan began in 2009 with the adoption of the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan ‘On supporting the use of renewable energy sources’.
Our country has set ambitious goals for the development of renewable energy, according to which it is necessary to increase the share of renewable energy in total electricity production to 3% in 2020, to 6% in 2025, by 2030 – 15%, by 2050 to renewable and alternative energy sources should account for at least half of total energy consumption.
These indicators are fixed both in government programs and in development strategies, declared by the country’s leadership to investors and the entire world community as part of EXPO-2017 ‘Future Energy’.

Nowadays, RES is a separately fully formed industry that has a huge potential to attract foreign direct investment in the economy of Kazakhstan.
In general, the renewable energy sector attracted 626 billion tenge of investments, 1310 permanent jobs were created, taxes in the amount of 81 billion tenge will be paid by renewable energy facilities.
It is no coincidence that by the decision of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, renewable energy sources were included in the list of priority investment projects in 2020.
